Introduction

Welcome to PDF Reader - OCR Scan Edit! We understand the importance of your personal information and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy is intended to clearly and transparently explain how we collect, use, store, protect, and share your information, as well as your rights, when you use our PDF scanning, reading, and management app (hereinafter referred to as the "App").

Please read and understand this Policy carefully. By starting to use the App, you acknowledge that you fully understand and agree to the terms of this Policy. If you have any questions, please contact us using the contact information provided at the end of this Policy.

I. Information Collection and Use

We collect information to provide you with a better App experience. We promise to only collect necessary information for the legitimate purposes described in this Policy.

Local Processing of Information Related to Core Functionality

The PDF files and document content (hereinafter referred to as "User Content") that you scan, create, edit, manage, and read through the App are stored locally on your device by default. We do not collect, store, upload, or access your User Content. This data is processed only locally on your device to ensure the privacy of your documents.

Information Collected to Implement Service Functionality

To provide in-app advertising (IAA), perform app performance analysis, and ensure service security, we may collect some information that does not directly identify you through third-party SDKs integrated into our apps. This information includes:

Device identifiers and technical information: such as your device model, operating system version, unique device identifier (such as the Android ID for Android or the IDFA for iOS), system language, network type (such as Wi-Fi or cellular), and IP address. This information is primarily used for third-party advertising, ad effectiveness measurement, and fraud prevention.

App Usage Data: such as the frequency of your use of various features, in-app click behavior, and app crash logs. This information helps us analyze and optimize app performance, improve the user experience, and promptly fix bugs.

Permission Instructions

To implement core functionality, we will request the following system permissions after obtaining your explicit authorization:

Camera permissions: used to capture and scan images for PDF conversion.

Photo Album/Photo Library permissions: used to import images from your camera roll to generate PDF files.

You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time in your device's system settings. We adhere to the "minimum necessary" principle and only request permissions to implement the relevant functionality. Please note that if you refuse to provide any of the above permissions, the corresponding core functionality will not function properly.

II. Information Storage and Security

Storage Location and Duration: Your User Content is always stored locally on your device. The storage period for non-identifiable information collected through third-party SDKs will be governed by the privacy policies of those third-party services.

Data Security: We use industry-standard security technologies and procedures to protect collected information to prevent data loss, misuse, unauthorized access, or disclosure. However, please note that no security measures are foolproof. Due to limitations in current technology, potential system vulnerabilities, and complex network environments, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information during transmission or storage. We assume no responsibility for data leakage, loss, damage, or unauthorized use not caused by our fault (including but not limited to your own fault, third-party intrusion, or force majeure). Since your User Content is stored locally on your device, its security is highly dependent on your own security measures. You should fully understand this and assume all associated risks.

Data Backup and Risk of Loss: This app does not provide data backup or cloud synchronization. You are responsible for backing up important data by exporting it to your device's photo album, the Files app, or using other third-party services. We assume no responsibility for data loss caused by device malfunction, operating system issues, misuse, or uninstalling this app.

III. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We prioritize the security of your information and will never sell your personal information. However, we may share information in the following circumstances:

Third-Party Service Providers: To provide advertising, data analysis, and other services, we may share some anonymous, non-personally identifiable device and usage data with third parties, such as advertising partners and data analysis tools. These third parties have separate privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We will not provide any of your User Content to these third parties.

Legal and Compliance: We may disclose your information when required by law, regulation, legal process, litigation, or government authorities.

Business Transfers: If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, we may transfer your information to the newly controlled entity and ensure that it continues to be subject to this Privacy Policy.

IV. Your Rights

We firmly believe that you should be able to manage your personal information. Subject to applicable laws in your region (including but not limited to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the US California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other similar regulations), you have the following rights. Because we do not collect personally identifiable information, the exercise of some of these rights may differ, but we are committed to fully protecting your rights to the extent technically feasible:

Right to Know and Access: You have the right to be informed of how we process your information, which is the core purpose of this Privacy Policy. You have the right to request access to the anonymized information we process about you through technical means.

Right to Correction: If you believe the information we process about you is inaccurate, you have the right to request that we correct it.

Right to Deletion: You have the right to request that we delete your personal information. You can delete all user content stored locally on your device by completely uninstalling this app. For information collected through third-party SDKs, you will need to contact the relevant third party to exercise this right.

Right to Restrict Processing: In certain circumstances (for example, if you contest the accuracy of the information or the lawfulness of our processing), you have the right to request that we temporarily stop processing your information.

Right to Data Portability: You have the right to access the personal information you provide and have it transferred in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Since we primarily process device-local data, you can transfer your data directly through the export and share functions within the app.

Right to Withdraw Consent: You can manage or withdraw the camera and photo album permissions you previously granted to this app at any time through the "Settings" menu in your device's operating system. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of data processing activities previously based on your consent.

Right to Object and Opt Out of Personalized Advertising: You have the right to object to automated decision-making based on your personal information (including profiling). You can also opt out of interest-based personalized advertising by resetting or limiting the use of advertising identifiers (such as the IDFA) through your device's privacy settings (for example, by selecting "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS devices).

Right to Complain: If you believe our processing of your personal information violates applicable data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country. However, we sincerely hope that you will first contact us using the contact information provided at the end to give us an opportunity to resolve your concern.

How to Exercise Your Rights

If you wish to exercise any of the rights listed above, or have any questions or comments about this Policy, please contact us using the contact information provided at the end of this Policy. For security reasons, we may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

V. How We Handle Children's Personal Information

Our services are not designed for children under the age of 13. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will delete that information as soon as possible. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the contact information provided below.

VI. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, or business practices. The updated policy will be posted within this app or notified to you by other appropriate means, and will indicate the date it was last updated. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
